Vanuatu has officially launched its Immigration Enrolment System Office at the Consulate in Hong Kong, marking another step in making consular and immigration services more accessible to citizens abroad. The opening was led by Minister of Internal Affairs Andrew Solomon Napuat and Minister of Lands Rick Tchmako Mahe, and attended by Director of Immigration Jeffrey Markson, Vanuatu’s Ambassador to Beijing Dennis Nai, Passport Manager Fred Kalwat, and other invited gusts. Mr. Kalwat will now be stationed at the consulate to manage immigration services and the new passport enrolment system.
Minister Napuat highlighted Hong Kong’s role as a hub for investment, business, and trade, noting that the consulate has contributed directly to the national budget and supported permanent residency and citizenship programmes, now major revenue sources for the country. He thanked all partners who helped make this initiative possible and encouraged the consulate to provide fair, efficient, and high-quality services to citizens and clients.
He also shared that old passports issued in Port Vila will expire in November 2025, with only Electronic Passports being issued from the second week of November. These upgrades will strengthen the reputation of Vanuatu passports and align with international standards. The Dubai consulate will soon launch its own enrolment system, continuing the government’s efforts to expand services for citizens across the globe.
The milestone underscores Vanuatu’s commitment to supporting its citizens abroad while reinforcing its presence on the international stage.
