Today (November 11th, 2024), the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Home Affairs & Immigration (MoHAI), Fiji opened the Migration Information & Data Analysis (MIDAS) User Training for Immigration and Customs Officers in Fiji! This training, supported by the IOM-UN Migration and funded by the Government of Japan. Embassy of Japan in Fiji, represents a vital step toward bolstering Fiji’s Border Management capabilities.

I welcome each of you here today as we commence the first day of MIDAS user training, marking a key step in advancing our border management capabilities” – Mr Mason Smith, Permanent Secretary for MoHAI.
In response to a rapid border management assessment conducted by IOM Fiji in 2021, the Fiji Immigration Department – Ministry of Home Affairs & Immigration, Fiji, initiated the transformation of Fiji’s border management systems by implementing MIDAS. Together with Fiji Immigration Department, we are thrilled to launch this pilot at the Nausori International Airport as part of our committment to advancing safety, security and efficiency in Fiji’s border processes. This aligns with the Fiji National Development Plan and with the aim to foster a sustainable, secure, and progressive digital future for our nation.
