PNG opens visa on arrival for Indonesian ordinary passport holders PACNEWS1: Tue 30 Sep 2025 PORT MORESBY, 30 SPETEMBER 2025 (POST COURIER) — Ordinary passport holders from Indonesia can now access the Visa On Arrival (VOA) into Papua New Guinea at the Jackson’s International Airport, Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso announced Monday. “Effective immediately, Ordinary Passport holders from Indonesia can enter PNG only at the Jackson’s Airport in Port Moresby using the visa on arrival arrangement,” Rosso, who is also responsible for the Ministry for Immigration and Border Security, said. He said that the current bilateral arrangement between Papua New Guinea and Indonesia allows for Diplomatic, Official, and Service Passport Holders for both countries to obtain a Visa on Arrival for up to 60 days. “However, because Indonesia is already providing PNG Standard Passport holders with a Visa on Arrival, Papua New Guinea is now reciprocating for their Ordinary Passport holders,” Rosso said.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the visa on arrival for Ordinary Passport holders for Indonesia would only be available at Jackson’s International Airport, and not any other port of enter in Papua New Guinea. Indonesia’s Service Passport is the equivalent of PNG’s Official Passport, although the Service Passport can be referred to as an Official Passport. Indonesia’s Ordinary Passport is the equivalent of PNG’s Standard Passport. Rosso said that the VOA for Ordinary Passport holders of Indonesia trvelling to PNG is up to 30 days, while the VOA for their diplomats and officials under the current bilateral arrangement is a maximum of 60 days. “The VOA does now apply to diplomats and officials for long-term engagement. It is only for short-term visits,” Rosso said.
