PIDC Secretariat, March 08, 2024 – The Head of PIDC Secretariat (HOS), Mr. Akuila Ratu was privileged to have had an audience with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), Mrs. Peseta Noumea Simi. Afioga Peseta is one of Samoa’s longest serving CEOs and the MFAT is an invaluable partner and stakeholder for PIDC. The meeting was held at the MFAT office on 5th March, 2024. This was Mr. Akuila Ratu’s first meeting with the CEO MFAT, since he was appointed the Head of Secretariat in 2023.
At the meeting, the Head of Secretariat specifically acknowledged and thanked Peseta for all MFAT’s support for PIDC over the years and for always looking out for all the International Organizations in Samoa, including PIDC. The professional services and support by the staff of MFAT were highly commended. The support of MFAT has enabled the PIDC to acquire its very first vehicle; a 2024 Hyundai Tucson midsize SUV.
The Secretariat also shared with Peseta upcoming programs and events including its Board meeting and the PIDC National Contact Point (NCP), Maritime Group and Profiling Group National Contact Points Regional Workshop in March, 2024. Peseta on the other hand briefly shared some of the Government of Samoa’s plans for hosting and accommodating international organizations. The Secretariat was also informed of some of Samoa’s preparation for CHOGM 2024.
