PIDC Board

The Board is a permanent subsidiary body of the PIDC and acts on behalf of the PIDC Membership to provide governance oversight of the PIDC Secretariat as well as other Subsidiary Bodies and committees of the organisation.

The Board is responsible for setting the PIDC’s strategic direction and ensuring the PIDC’s programme of work and other objectives are delivered and are adding value to Members. It is also responsible for ensuring that the PIDC has a sustainable financial future; that reputational, financial and non-financial risks are identified and effectively mitigated and that policies are in place to ensure resources are used responsibly and with accountability.

The Board meets three times each financial year a day immediately prior to the Regular Annual Meeting.

The Board is elected annually at each Regular Annual Meeting for a one year term.  Board Members for the 2023/24 business period includes: Vanuatu (Chair), Solomon Islands (as Vice-Chair incoming), Papua New Guinea (as Vice-Chair outgoing), Palau (Micronesia), Fiji (Melanesian Rep), Tokelau (Small Island States Rep), Tonga (Polynesia Rep), Australia (Principal Donor), New Zealand (Principal Donor) and Samoa (Secretariat Host Country). 

The PIDC Constitution guides the Board in implementing its various functions and duties in alignment with the vision, values and ethical standards that the PIDC aspires to uphold.
