Pacific Regional Law Enforcement Secretariats MeetPosted On: Tuesday, 27 February 2018
The PIDC Secretariat attended the Joint Regional Law Enforcement Agency (JRLEA) meeting in Suva, Fiji from 22-24 January 2018. The JRLEA Secretariats meeting was attended by representatives of the Oceania Customs Organisation (OCO), Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP), Pacific Immigration Directors Conference (PIDC) and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat Law Enforcement Unit (PIFS-LEU). The meeting sought to progress and finalise discussions around the inaugural Joint Board Meeting agenda and arrangements that was scheduled for 01 March 2018 in Brisbane, Australia.
JRLEA members agreed on the development of a joint law enforcement declaration framework, subsequently approving a joint declaration statement and framework that was to be presented at the inaugural Joint Board meeting. In finalising the inaugural joint Board meeting arrangements, the Secretariats agreed to an agenda that would promote cooperation and goodwill amongst law enforcement agencies in the region. The secretariats agreed to continue working together towards hosting a successful joint Board meeting.
