Members of PIDC

Research

The PIDC’s research capacity is focussed on the collection, collation and analysis of data provided by Members annually in a range of areas, including:

  • arrivals
  • border refusals
  • unlawfully residing populations
  • returns and deportations
  • people smuggling
  • human trafficking
  • immigration and related fraud
  • asylum and refugee status determination

This data is used to produce the PIDC People Smuggling, Human Trafficking and Illegal Migration in the Pacific report and contributes to the Transnational Organised Crime report to the Pacific Islands Forum Regional Security Committee.
